After months—possibly even years—of preparation, the day of your wedding has finally arrived!
It can feel overwhelming; your wedding party is arriving, hair and makeup are being set up, and family members are bustling in and out with breakfast and coffee. Trust me, the last thing you want to be doing on your wedding morning is scrambling to gather your details for the photographer.
Here’s a professional tip: to keep your photo schedule on track and ensure your day starts off as smoothly as possible, collect all your wedding details the night before, the morning of, or even a week in advance! Organize everything in a box (except for your dress, of course) so that as soon as your photographer arrives, they can quickly access your items and start shooting. This way, you won’t be running around on your special day, frantically searching for everything while getting your hair and makeup done, or risking your photographer’s time while you look for items.
(Bonus tip: Consider hiring a wedding planner or day-of coordinator to manage getting all the details to your photographer and to keep you on schedule throughout the day!)
You might be curious about what specific “details” you should be gathering.
Below, I’ve created two lists—one for brides and one for grooms—detailing the types of items you may want to include in your photos. If you don’t have every single item on the list, that’s perfectly okay! Just provide what you have to your photographer, and be sure to mention if anything is particularly special (like a family heirloom) so they can make sure to capture it.

Your wedding day is unique to you and your fiancé, and your details should reflect that! Be sure to communicate with your photographer ahead of time and let them know the theme or color palette for your special day — many photographers will bring along styling mats or additional styling props to complement the details you already have, and help create a more complete flat lay design.
